Pyramids Edge Wadi Degla 2-1 in Premier League Thriller

Pyramids FC 2-1 Wadi Degla: Premier League Drama Unfolds

Pyramids FC edged Wadi Degla 2-1 in a Premier League thriller that swung on a knife-edge until the final whistle. The hosts struck first but were pegged back before halftime, only for Mostafa Zico to deliver the decisive blow in a second half riddled with yellow cards and tactical chess.

Pyramids FC’s Lightning Start

Mahmoud Saber sent the home crowd into raptures after just 11 minutes, finishing coolly from Mostafa Zico’s incisive through ball. Pyramids threatened to run riot, their 22 total shots dwarfing Wadi Degla’s 10, but Mohanad Lashin’s 37th-minute yellow card proved a turning point. The hosts’ momentum fractured, and Ahmed Abdin punished them mercilessly a minute later, slotting home Hamza Hassan’s cutback to silence the stands.

Wadi Degla’s Valiant Resistance

The visitors emerged transformed after halftime, their 51% possession allowing Franck Boli to probe dangerously. But Pyramids’ relentless pressure told in the 58th minute when Lashin – redeemed from his earlier indiscretion – teed up Zico for a venomous strike. Wadi Degla’s desperation grew as four yellow cards flew in 16 chaotic minutes, their discipline unraveling alongside hopes of a comeback.

Premier League Implications

This victory propels Pyramids FC up the table, their 1.97 expected goals underlining cutting-edge efficiency. For Wadi Degla, the 1.36 xG suggests they fought valiantly but lacked the final touch. Both teams now regroup for Matchday 9, where Pyramids will seek to build momentum while Wadi Degla must stem the bleeding after this heart-wrenching near-miss.
