El Saeey Stuns Future as Al Ahly Edge Tense 1-0 Win

Mostafa Shobeir’s heroic goalkeeping and Omar El Saeey’s 17th-minute strike saw Al Ahly scrape a 1-0 Premier League victory over Future FC in a match that hinged on a penalty miss and defensive resilience. The Cairo giants rode their luck after Ali Fawzi’s 85th-minute spot-kick disaster, surviving an onslaught from the hosts who dominated 54% possession but lacked cutting edge.

Early Agony for Future FC

The stadium fell silent in the 17th minute when Zizo’s threaded pass found El Saeey ghosting between defenders, the Egyptian international slotting past Mostafa Makhlouf with surgical precision. Future’s defensive line stood statuesque, replay footage showing three players raising arms in vain as Al Ahly’s number 10 wheeled away in delight.

Future FC responded with a flurry – Walid Mostafa’s curler forcing Shobeir into a fingertip save, while Mahmoud Mamdouh skewed wide from six yards after a defensive mix-up. The hosts’ 11 first-half shots dwarfed Al Ahly’s 5, yet the visitors carried Zizo’s creative spark like a concealed weapon.

Al Ahly’s Defensive Masterclass

Future came out swinging after halftime, Mamdouh rattling the crossbar with a thunderous volley before Abdel Rahman Rizk’s follow-up was cleared off the line by Yassin Marei. As the pressure mounted, Al Ahly coach L. Ammouta battened hatches – hauling off tiring playmaker Zizo in the 88th minute while introducing defensive midfielder Taher Mohamed.

The tactical switch nearly backfired when Ahmed Youssef’s mazy run drew a clumsy foul from Hady Reyad. Up stepped Ali Fawzi with five minutes left… only to sky his penalty into the upper tier. Camera close-ups showed the right-back sinking to his knees, fingers clawing at the turf as Shobeir celebrated like a cup final winner.

What This Means For Both Sides

For Al Ahly, this smash-and-grab reaffirms their status as masters of the ugly win – climbing the table despite being outshot 16-11 and conceding seven corners. Future FC’s 1.37 xG (expected goals) tells the story of a match they dominated everywhere except the scoreline, leaving coach A. Benhachem to rue “inches and moments” in his post-match interview.

The result leaves Future FC stranded in mid-table, their progress undermined by finishing woes. As for Al Ahly? Another step towards the title, another example of winning while second-best – the mark of champions.
