Frosinone Thrash Lecce 5-1 in Serie A Demolition

Frosinone 5-1 Lecce: A Serie A Masterclass

Frosinone delivered a devastating 5-1 victory over Lecce in Serie A’s ninth round, turning their Stadio Benito Stirpe into a carnival with four different scorers in a ruthless attacking clinic.

Frosinone’s Early Statement

Matteo Cichella ignited the hosts in the 25th minute, powering home Fares Ghedjemis’ cutback to spark delirium. The Canarini’s 60% possession dominance bore fruit again in first-half stoppage time when Giacomo Calò converted a penalty, sending Lecce into the break shellshocked after Tiago Gabriel’s earlier yellow card.

Lecce Collapse After Half-Time

Eusebio Di Francesco’s quadruple substitution at 57 minutes hinted at desperation, but Antonio Raimondo’s tap-in just two minutes later made it 3-0 from Giorgi Kvernadze’s cross. Daniel Birligea then announced himself emphatically – first slotting home Romano Schmid’s pass in the 72nd minute (confirmed by VAR), then racing onto another Kvernadze assist in stoppage time for his brace.

Lecce’s lone consolation came when substitute Joel Almada Monteiro fired past Luca Palmisani at 82 minutes, but their 17 fouls and three yellows told the story of a team unraveling under pressure.

What This Means for Both Sides

Frosinone’s 26 shots and 3.4 xG showcase their best Serie A performance this season, moving them into mid-table with this statement win. For Lecce, the 40% possession and defensive disarray leaves Di Francesco with urgent questions ahead of their relegation battle. The gulf was stark – Frosinone’s ten corners to Lecce’s three, their nine on-target efforts to the visitors’ six – as the Canarini fans celebrated long after the final whistle.
