Valencia’s Last-Gasp Magic Earns Boca Juniors Tense 1-0 Win

Enner Valencia sent La Bombonera into raptures with a dramatic injury-time winner as Boca Juniors edged Defensa Y Justicia 1-0 in the Liga Profesional Argentina Clausura.

Boca Juniors Dominate But Find Defensa Y Justicia Resilient

The hosts came roaring out of the blocks, racking up 13 shots inside the box in the first half alone. Miguel Merentiel thought he’d broken the deadlock in the 39th minute, only for VAR to cruelly rule it out. Boca’s frustration grew as Defensa goalkeeper Marcos Borginho pulled off a string of stunning saves, including a fingertip stop to deny Valentini’s piledriver.

Defensa Y Justicia Dig In As Cards Fly

As Boca’s pressure mounted, Defensa’s resistance turned ragged. Maximiliano Porcel picked up the first of Defensa’s four yellow cards in a desperate attempt to stem Boca’s tide. Leandro Paredes also went into the book for the hosts as tensions boiled over in a fractious second half.

The Moment That Broke Defensa Y Justicia

Just when it seemed Boca’s 22 shots would count for nothing, Lautaro Di Lollo swung in a pinpoint cross in the sixth minute of stoppage time. Valencia rose majestically to power home a header that sparked delirium in the stands. Defensa’s frustration boiled over in the aftermath, collecting two more cautions as Boca celebrated a vital win.

What This Result Means For Both Teams

For Boca, this last-gasp triumph keeps their Clausura title charge on track. Valencia’s heroics will live long in the memory of the Bombonera faithful. Defensa can take heart from their resilient defensive display, but consecutive away defeats leave them needing a response. Both sides now regroup for the Clausura run-in, where every point could prove pivotal.
