Vancouver Whitecaps' 2-0 win was deserved but slightly flattering, with their xG (1.86) indicating they created better chances than Montreal (0.96), albeit not by a two-goal margin. The visitors' dominance of possession (64%) led to significantly more shots (17 vs 8), with Vancouver particularly dangerous inside the box (13 shots vs Montreal's 4).

Cheikh Sabaly opened the scoring on 50 minutes before M. Gherasimencov sealed it late, assisted by Bruno Caicedo. Montreal struggled to convert their limited chances, with just 3 shots on target despite 4 corners. Vancouver's Yves Takaoka made 3 saves compared to Montreal's Sebastian Keita who faced 8 shots on goal.

The key stat was Vancouver's 13 shots inside the box, demonstrating their ability to penetrate Montreal's defence and create high-quality chances from sustained possession.
