Coritiba Crush Vitoria 2-0 in Serie A Surge

Coritiba Outclass Vitoria 2-0 in Pivotal Serie A Clash

The floodlights cut through the Curitiba night as Coritiba delivered a 2-0 hammer blow to Vitoria in Serie A’s 33rd round — a result that tasted like pure survival. For 58 minutes, the tension was almost unbearable. Then Pedro Rocha exploded it.

Coritiba’s Relentless Pressure Pays Off

Coritiba’s 20 total shots to Vitoria’s 7 told the story of a siege. When Rocha finally broke through in the 58th minute, latching onto a scramble in the box, the Couto Pereira erupted. Four minutes later, Emanuel Britez’s yellow card for a desperate lunge symbolized Vitoria unraveling — their three substitutions in the 68th minute smacked of panic. It backfired catastrophically.

Tinga’s Hammer Blow Seals Vitoria’s Fate

Tiago Coser’s visionary pass in the 69th minute found Tinga marauding forward, and the defender turned executioner with a ruthless finish. At 2-0, Vitoria’s 51% possession meant nothing — their lone shot on target all night was damning evidence of impotence. Coritiba’s 14 shots inside the box versus Vitoria’s 3 painted the visceral dominance.

What This Means for Both Teams

Coritiba’s xG of 2.30 proved this was no fluke — a statement win that drags them from relegation’s jaws. For Vitoria, their 0.53 xG spells trouble, their attack blunt when it mattered most. The five second-half substitutions reeked of a bench with no answers. As Tissi’s 94th-minute yellow card signaled the end, Coritiba’s fans sang into the night — their Serie A lifeline burning brighter.
