Gulli’s Late Heartbreak Seals San Lorenzo’s 2-1 Estudiantes Escape

San Lorenzo Stun Estudiantes With Dramatic Clausura Closer

San Lorenzo left La Plata in disbelief, stealing a 2-1 victory over Estudiantes with Facundo Gulli’s 95th-minute dagger in Matchday 13 of Argentina’s Liga Profesional Clausura. The visitors defied their 35% possession to land two ruthless counterpunches, silencing the Estadio Ciudad de La Plata when it mattered most.

Early Estudiantes Control Meets VAR Drama

The night began with Estudiantes’ dominance. A VAR-confirmed penalty in the 10th minute—after Tiago Palacios was hauled down—let Edwuin Cetre coolly slot home (14′). San Lorenzo keeper José Devecchi’s yellow card for dissent (12′) only deepened the hosts’ momentum. But Estudiantes’ Benedetti (30′) and Monsalve (32′) soon joined him in the book as their aggression turned reckless.

Corujo Punishes Estudiantes’ Disarray

Just as Estudiantes looked to settle, Guzman Corujo—booked himself six minutes prior—rose to nod home Agustín Ladstatter’s cross (44′). The equalizer came against the run of play, with San Lorenzo’s first shot on target. By halftime, Estudiantes had squandered 65% possession—their five yellow cards telling the story of fraying nerves.

Substitutions & Suffering

Alexander Medina threw on attacking changes—Correa, Carrillo, Gaich—but San Lorenzo’s low block held firm. When Estudiantes’ Kociubinski (75′) and Carrillo (77′) saw yellow, the writing was on the wall. Against the tiring hosts, substitute Enzo Alan Salas sliced open the defense, teeing up fellow sub Gulli to break red-and-white hearts at the death (90+5′).

What This Means

For Estudiantes, 11 shots yielded just two on target—a brutal lesson in wastefulness. San Lorenzo, meanwhile, march on with typical Insúa grit: outshot 13-11 but clinical when it counted. The result leaves La Plata’s side nursing wounds; for the visitors, it’s a steal that fuels their Clausura charge.
