Flamengo Crush Bahia 3-0 in Serie A Masterclass

Flamengo Silence Bahia with Relentless 3-0 Serie A Victory

The final whistle in Salvador brought brutal clarity: Flamengo had dismantled Bahia 3-0 in a one-sided Serie A affair that exposed gulf in class. From first minute to last, the Rubro-Negro imposed their will, turning Bahia’s home turf into a stage for their title credentials.

Bahia’s Early Resistance Crumbles Under Pressure

The warning signs flashed early. Erick Pulgar’s third-minute yellow card set Flamengo’s aggressive tone. Though Bahia’s 5-3-2 formation initially congested spaces, Leonardo Jardim’s men probed relentlessly. By halftime, the stats told the story: 64% possession, 8 shots to 3. When Léo Pereira’s cynical 48th-minute foul earned Bahia a free-kick, the releasing breath from the stands felt premature.

Flamengo’s Deadly Second Half Onslaught

Jorginho’s 64th-minute penalty conversion shattered the stalemate, drilling his spot-kick high after a VAR-confirmed handball. The floodgates opened. Nine minutes later, Samuel Lino’s slicing pass found Gonzalo Plata, who finished with cold precision. Rogério Ceni’s triple substitution backfired spectacularly – within three minutes, Lucas Paquetá latched onto Guillermo Varela’s cross to make it 3-0. The assist marked Varela’s eighth key pass of the night.

What This Means For Both Serie A Campaigns

For Flamengo, this was a statement. Their 2.76 xG and 21 total shots showcased attacking variety few can contain. Moving to 61 points keeps the title pressure on Botafogo. Bahia’s fourth straight loss sees them sink toward relegation scrap, their 0.59 xG underlining creative bankruptcy. As the visitors’ contingent sang into the Salvador night, the hosts trudged off wondering where 36% possession football takes them next.
