Banja Luka Roar Past KuPS 2-0 in Europa Conference Blitz

Borac Banja Luka 2-0 KuPS – Europa Conference League Matchday 2

The roar from the Banja Luka faithful shook the stadium walls as the final whistle confirmed a dominant 2-0 victory over KuPS in their UEFA Europa Conference League League Stage clash. This wasn’t just three points — it was a statement.

Banja Luka’s Early Surge

From the first whistle, Borac played like men possessed. Luka Juricic’s 18th-minute yellow card for a thunderous tackle set the tone — this would be won through sheer will. The breakthrough came in the 29th minute when Stefan Savic pounced on a loose ball, hammering it past Kreidl to send the home crowd into delirium.

KuPS Collapse Under Pressure

The Finnish side wilted under Banja Luka’s relentless pressure. Five minutes after halftime, Matej Deket doubled the lead with a clinical finish from Juricic’s inch-perfect pass. The stats told a brutal story — 24 total shots to KuPS’ 12, 10 corners to 2, a staggering 13 attempts inside the box. KuPS’ 60% possession meant nothing as Banja Luka’s defense stood like a brick wall, goalkeeper Mladen Jurkas making three crucial saves.

Desperate KuPS Changes Fell Flat

Coach Jorginho threw on four substitutes between the 60th and 78th minutes, but Gustav Engvall and company couldn’t break Banja Luka’s resolve. Arttu Lötjönen’s 91st-minute yellow card summed up KuPS’ frustration — all bark, no bite when it mattered.

What This Means

For Banja Luka, this was a night that proved they belong on this stage. Sitting pretty in the group, confidence will be sky-high. KuPS? Questions will loom after such a toothless display against a team they’d targeted for points. The return fixture in Finland now looms as a must-win — but on this evidence, Banja Luka won’t be surrendering easily.
