Sociedad’s Six-Goal Savage Blitz Leaves Lillestrom Reeling

Real Sociedad hammered six past a shell-shocked Lillestrom in their UEFA Europa League League Stage – 3 clash, turning the Norwegian side’s home ground into a scene of carnage with a merciless 6-0 victory.

The nightmare began in the 25th minute. Mikel Oyarzabal, orchestrating every attack, sliced open Lillestrom’s backline with a threaded pass to Sergio Gómez, who buried the chance with ice-cold precision. Two minutes later, the same duo struck again—Gómez doubling the lead with a ruthless finish. The home fans barely had time to breathe before Luka Sučić made it three, once more from Oyarzabal’s assist, as Lillestrom’s defence crumbled.

Lillestrom’s Collapse Under Sociedad’s Siege

Lillestrom’s humiliation deepened before halftime. Struggling to string five passes together, their hopes of a response evaporated when Thomas Lehne Olsen skied a 50th-minute penalty. Instead, Real Sociedad twisted the knife. Orri Steinn Óskarsson, just off the bench, headed in their fourth before Sučić lashed home his second. Arsen Zakharyan then carved through a defeated backline for the sixth, a fittingly brutal punctuation mark.

Real Sociedad’s Ruthless Control

But this wasn’t just about goals—it was dominance in every metric. The visitors controlled 56% of possession and fired eight shots on target to Lillestrom’s two. Oyarzabal, their conductor, racked up three assists before being withdrawn with the job long done. Every substitution brought fresh torment. Benat Turrientes, stepping off the bench, still found time to assist. It was football as destruction.

What This Means for Both Sides

For Lillestrom, this will sting. A home crowd subjected to humiliation, their Europa League campaign hanging by a thread. They must regroup fast—another performance like this, and the whispers of crisis will grow. Sociedad? A statement win. Six different scorers, total control, and Oyarzabal pulling the strings like a man playing chess while others wrestle in mud. They march on, a dark horse growing sharper.
