Game of Twists: Al-Ahli Edges Al-Fayha in Pro League Classic

Al-Ahli Jeddah emerged 3-2 victors over Al-Fayha in a Pro League Round 10 thriller that saw three lead changes, a penalty, and a Ukrainian midfield maestro writing the final twist with his boots.

First Half: Goals Exchange Like Punches in a Title Fight

The tension cracked open in first-half stoppage time. Hugo Moura sent Al-Fayha’s home fans into raptures, drilling home from Ahmed Bamasud’s pass in the 45th minute. But with the board still showing +3, Artem Bondarenko answered with a vicious left-footed strike, assisted by Saad Yaslam Balobaid. The 43% possession underdogs Al-Fayha had dared to dream, only for Al-Ahli’s 57% dominance to bite back.

Second Half: Penalty Drama and a Double Delight

Firas Al-Buraikan converted a 59th-minute penalty to put Al-Ahli ahead, but Jason Remeseiro’s vicious strike six minutes later leveled for Al-Fayha – their only shot on target in the half. Then came Bondarenko’s moment: receiving Valentin Atangana Edoa’s pass in the 70th minute, he curled a beauty into the far corner to complete his brace. Al-Ahli’s xG of 4.18 told the story of their siege – 15 total shots to Al-Fayha’s 9.

What This Means For The Pro League Race

For Al-Fayha, this cruel defeat leaves them winless in three. Al-Ahli Jeddah, meanwhile, climb the table with Bondarenko announcing himself as their new heartbeat. When these sides meet again, that Ukrainian name will be circled in red.
