Al-Nassr
Al-Nassr Edge NEOM 1-0 in Pro League Thriller
A single moment of magic from Joao Felix handed Al-Nassr a gritty 1-0 victory over NEOM in the Pro League’s Round 10, despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty heartbreak. The match crackled with tension from the first whistle, both sides aware that every point could prove crucial in Saudi Arabia’s fiercely contested top flight.
NEOM’s Disciplinary Woes Mount Early
The first half belonged to Al-Nassr in terms of pressure and possession, but NEOM’s defense held firm initially. Yellow cards for Mohammed Al-Dossari and Georgios Masouras signaled NEOM’s struggle to contain Al-Nassr’s relentless attacks. The breakthrough nearly came on the stroke of halftime when VAR awarded Al-Nassr a penalty, only for Ronaldo to smash his spot-kick against the post in the 45’+6′, sending the Al-Nassr faithful into stunned silence.
Joao Felix Secures Al-Nassr’s Triumph
The second half crackled with urgency. NEOM, buoyed by Ronaldo’s miss, pushed forward but left gaps that Al-Nassr exploited ruthlessly. In the 61st minute, Al-Nassr’s pressure finally paid off. Angelo Borges slid a perfectly weighted pass to Felix, who coolly slotted past NEOM goalkeeper Matej Bułka. NEOM’s frustration boiled over as Mohannad Abu Taha saw yellow shortly after, and despite five second-half substitutions by coach Christophe Galtier, NEOM couldn’t find an equalizer.
What This Result Means
Al-Nassr’s dominance was evident in the stats: 17 shots to NEOM’s 7, 58% possession, and 12 shots inside the box. Yet NEOM’s resilience in defense, despite their 18 fouls and four yellow cards, kept the scoreline respectable. For Al-Nassr, this victory keeps their Pro League title hopes alive, but Ronaldo’s penalty miss will undoubtedly linger in the minds of fans. NEOM, meanwhile, must regroup quickly, with their lack of attacking threat a growing concern. As the Pro League season progresses, both teams know every match could make or break their ambitions.
