Real Madrid’s Clinical Masterclass Silences Racing Santander
Real Madrid delivered a crushing 3-0 victory over Racing Santander in La Liga’s 11th round, leaving no doubt about their title ambitions. The match, played under the floodlights of El Sardinero, turned into a one-sided affair as Madrid’s quality shone through from the first whistle.
Racing Santander’s Early Resistance Crumbles
The home side started bravely, their supporters roaring them on, but Madrid’s relentless pressure soon told. Karim Benzema broke Santander’s resistance in the 27th minute, sliding home after a gorgeous through ball from Luka Modric. The goalkeeper got a hand to it, but the Frenchman’s finish had too much power.
Vinicius Junior doubled the lead just before halftime, his curling effort from the edge of the box leaving the keeper rooted to the spot. The Brazilian’s celebration in front of the silenced home fans said everything – this was becoming a rout.
Real Madrid’s Second Half Exhibition
The second half became a training exercise for Carlo Ancelotti’s men. Toni Kroos put the game beyond doubt in the 63rd minute, his first-time volley from a corner rippling the net before the keeper could react. Santander’s players looked shellshocked, their early fight completely evaporated.
Madrid could have added more, with Rodrygo hitting the post late on, but three proved more than enough. The statistics told a damning story – 68% possession, 18 shots to Santander’s 3, and not a single clear chance created by the hosts.
What This Means for Both Sides
For Racing Santander, this heavy defeat leaves them staring at a relegation battle, their confidence surely shattered after such a comprehensive beating. They’ll need to regroup quickly before their next fixture.
Real Madrid sent a chilling message to their title rivals with this performance. Barcelona and Atletico will have noted the ease with which Los Blancos dispatched stubborn opposition away from home. With Benzema, Vinicius and the midfield maestros in this form, the Bernabéu faithful can dare to dream of another league trophy.
