Poland and Bosnia & Herzegovina played out a tense 0-0 draw in their UEFA Nations League League B opener, a match that saw eight yellow cards but precious few clear chances. Poland Struggle to Convert Possession Into Chances

Their standout chance came in the 57th minute when Haris Tabaković rose highest to meet a Kerim Alajbegović cross, but his header sailed narrowly over Mariusz Bułka’s crossbar.

Late Drama Fails to Materialize

As the game entered its final stages, tempers began to fray. Matty Cash and Jan Bednarek both saw yellow for cynical fouls designed to halt Bosnian counterattacks. Poland thought they had a late penalty claim in the 86th minute when Lewandowski went down under pressure from Sead Kolašinac, but referee Srdjan Jovanović waved play on. Bosnia nearly stole it in injury time when substitute Amar Memić unleashed a powerful drive from distance, but Bułka gathered comfortably.

What This Result Means

For Poland, this was a frustrating start to their Nations League campaign. Despite their dominance of possession, they lacked the cutting edge to break down a resolute Bosnia defence. Questions will be asked about their attacking strategy, particularly their over-reliance on Lewandowski.

Bosnia, meanwhile, will take heart from their defensive solidity. Playing away against a side ranked significantly higher in the FIFA rankings, a point represents a solid return. However, they’ll need to improve their attacking output if they’re to mount a serious challenge for promotion to League A.

Both sides return to Nations League action on Tuesday, with Poland travelling to Switzerland and Bosnia hosting Kosovo. After this stalemate, both teams know improvements are needed if they’re to achieve their campaign objectives.
