Osimhen Double Powers Galatasaray Past Fenerbahçe 2-1

Galatasaray Edge Fenerbahçe 2-1 in Süper Lig Derby Thriller

Victor Osimhen wrote his name into İstıkrar derby folklore with two first-half goals as Galatasaray held off a spirited Fenerbahçe fightback to win 2-1 in a tense Süper Lig clash at RAMS Park. The Nigerian’s predatory instincts and Fener’s reckless first-half discipline decided this fiery contest early, though Kahveci’s second-half strike ensured nerves rattled until the final whistle.

Galatasaray Dominate Chaotic First Half

The hosts struck first blood after 29 minutes when Osimhen pounced on Barış Yılmaz’s deflected cross, stabbing home from six yards. Fener’s frustration boiled over as Skriniar and Kahveci picked up early yellows, their backline creaking under relentless pressure. Osimhen doubled the lead on 44 minutes, meeting Davinson Sánchez’s glancing header with a vicious volley that flew past Ederson. Galatasaray should have been out of sight by halftime – Fener registering just one blocked shot while accumulating five first-half bookings.

Fenerbahçe’s Valiant But Vain Fightback

Whatever Şampiyonlar said at halftime worked. Kahveci halved the deficit on 62 minutes, latching onto Oğuz Aydın’s through ball before slotting past Çakır. Suddenly, Fenerbahçe’s previously non-existent midfield found purpose, with Kanté and Greenwood driving them forward. But Galatasaray’s backline stood firm, Sanchez colossal in repelling late crosses. Fener’s desperation grew – three more yellows and just 38% possession telling the story of their uphill battle.

Süper Lig Title Race Heats Up

This victory sends Galatasaray top of the Süper Lig table, their unbeaten start now stretched to nine games. For Fenerbahçe, however, derby day demons persist – just one win in their last five against their fiercest rivals. Osimhen’s clinical double (taking his tally to five in three games) proved the difference, though Çakır’s fingertip save from Lukaku late on preserved three crucial points. Both sides now face Europa League commitments, but in Istanbul, it’s the yellow-and-red half celebrating long into the night.
