Pedro Double Powers Flamengo Past Gremio 3-1 in Serie A

Flamengo stormed to a 3-1 Serie A victory over Gremio in a statement performance that showcased their firepower and control. From the first whistle, the Rio giants turned the screw, leaving their opponents chasing shadows as the goals flowed.

Flamengo take control early doors

The Rubro-Negro made their intentions clear from the off, pinning Gremio back with a relentless high press. Their dominance bore fruit in the 20th minute when Samuel Lino latched onto a loose ball in the box, rifling a low shot past Gabriel Grando to spark bedlam in the stands.

Eight minutes later, Pedro doubled the lead, finishing off a slick move orchestrated by Jorge Carrascal. The striker’s clinical touch in the area was becoming a theme as Flamengo threatened to run riot.

Pedro brace puts Flamengo in cruise control

On the stroke of halftime, Pedro struck again, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to slot home his second of the night. The packed Maracanã roared its approval as Flamengo headed into the break 3-0 up and cruising, their 54% possession and 16 total shots telling the story of complete dominance.

Gremio fight back but Flamengo hold firm

To their credit, Gremio emerged for the second half with renewed purpose, making a triple substitution in search of a spark. Their efforts paid off in the 69th minute when F. Amuzu pulled one back, finishing coolly after a rare incisive break.

But Flamengo never looked truly troubled, with Walter Kannemann’s yellow card epitomizing Gremio’s frustration. Despite ending with 46% possession and 7 total shots, the visitors couldn’t find a way through again as Flamengo professionally saw out the win.

What this result means

For Flamengo, this comprehensive victory sends a clear message to their Serie A rivals. With Pedro in scintillating form and the team firing on all cylinders, they look primed for a deep run in the campaign. Gremio, meanwhile, face a tough task to regroup after being thoroughly outclassed. Their next match can’t come soon enough as they look to bounce back from this chastening defeat. Whatever happens, Flamengo’s statement win has set the tone for an enthralling Serie A season.
