Barry’s Brilliance Seals Everton’s 3-1 Comeback Over Coventry

Everton staged a stunning second-half comeback to defeat Coventry 3-1 in the Premier League’s 10th round, silencing the visitors after Yann Gboho had put them ahead.

Coventry Draw First Blood

The game burst into life in the 52nd minute when Gboho cut inside from the left and unleashed a curling shot that nestled in the top corner. Coventry, managed by former Everton star Frank Lampard, had been patient and were rewarded for their endeavour.

Barry Responds in Style

Everton hit back just four minutes later. Thierno Barry, a £25m summer signing, latched onto Vitaliy Mykolenko’s pinpoint cross and guided a header past Carl Rushworth. Then, in the 61st minute, Barry turned scorer again, pouncing on a loose ball to fire Everton ahead. The home crowd erupted as Goodison Park roared back to life.

Dewsbury-Hall Seals It

Barry wasn’t done. In the 81st minute, he set up Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who drilled a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 3-1. Coventry pushed for a late response but Everton’s defence held firm, with Jarrad Branthwaite marshalling the backline despite picking up a late yellow card.

What This Means

For Everton, this win lifts them into the top half of the table and underscores their resilience under David Moyes. Coventry, meanwhile, remain just above the relegation zone, with Lampard’s side still searching for consistency. Both teams face crucial fixtures next week as the Premier League season heats up.
