Norwich Humiliate Derby 4-0 in Championship Rout

Norwich Obliterate Derby in Championship Masterclass

Derby County’s Pride Park became a house of horrors as Norwich City ran riot in a brutal 4-0 Championship demolition — a scoreline that barely captured the gulf between these East Anglian rivals on a night that left Rams fans streaming for the exits long before full-time.

Musaba Sets the Tone for Norwich Domination

The nightmare began in the 8th minute when Anthony Musaba, Norwich’s livewire winger, latched onto a loose ball and lashed it past Jakob Widell Zetterström. The Derby keeper could only watch as the net bulged — the first sign of the floodgates creaking open.

Paris Maghoma doubled the lead in the 27th, finishing a slick move orchestrated by Jack Stacey. The Rams’ defence parted like the Red Sea, their 4-4-2 formation collapsing under Norwich’s relentless rotations. By the time Darlin Yongwa smashed in a third just before half-time (44′), Pride Park had fallen eerily silent — save for the 2,000 travelling fans gleefully chanting “Can we play you every week?”

Derby’s Desperate Changes Fail to Stem the Tide

Derby manager John Eustace made three half-time substitutions, hauling off Alex Mowatt, Isaac Gordon and Oscar Fraulo, but the changes only delayed the inevitable. Norwich’s fourth came in the 66th minute when substitute J. Makama pounced on more statuesque defending, slotting past Zetterström to complete the humiliation.

The stats painted a damning picture: Norwich’s 19 shots to Derby’s 6, their 1.82 xG dwarfing the Rams’ 0.73. Only four saves from Zetterström prevented an even more grotesque scoreline.

What This Means for Both Sides

For Norwich, this was a statement victory that catapults them into playoff contention — a ruthless exhibition of attacking football under Philippe Clement. Musaba and Maghoma were unplayable, their interplay slicing through Derby like a hot knife through butter.

But for Derby, this was a crisis laid bare. The boos at full-time told their own story. Eustace’s side now languish in the lower half, their defence in tatters and their midfield overrun. With tough fixtures looming, this could be the result that haunts their season.
