Raja Casablanca 1-1 Hassania Agadir: Late Drama in Botola Pro Showdown
A heartbreaking penalty miss in stoppage time condemned Raja Casablanca to a 1-1 draw against Hassania Agadir in a fiery Botola Pro Round 5 clash that saw seven yellow cards and VAR controversy. The Green Eagles thought they’d stolen it at the death when substitute Mathias Oyewusi cancelled out Amine Azri’s opener – but Adam Ennaffati’s failed Panenka attempt with 92 minutes on the clock left the Stade Mohamed V in disbelief.
Raja Dominate but Agadir Strike First
The hosts started like a whirlwind, Othmane Chraibi crunching into tackles (earning a 19th minute booking) as they racked up 61% possession. But Agadir’s compact 4-2-3-1 held firm, goalkeeper Ghailan Merbah denying Yassine Iguiz twice before the break. Against the run of play, Amine Azri punished Raja’s high line on 66 minutes – bursting onto a loose ball to slot past El Mehdi Al Harrar. VAR checked for offside but the goal stood, leaving Paco Jémez’s men staring at a shock defeat.
Raja Casablanca’s Rollercoaster Fightback
Jémez’s triple substitution on the hour changed everything. Oyewusi, introduced alongside Ennaffati, became an instant hero – pouncing on a defensive error to smash home the 81st minute equaliser. The Nigerian’s celebration saw him booked in the chaos, but when Ennaffati won a 92nd minute penalty, the comeback seemed complete. Instead, his cheeky chip down the middle was easily caught by Merbah – Agadir’s players collapsing in relief as Raja’s dugout howled in frustration.
What This Means for Botola Pro Title Race
For Raja, two dropped points at home sting deeply after 13 shots (3 on target) showed their dominance. They slip further behind league leaders Wydad. But Agadir’s 39% possession warriors celebrated like winners – their four yellow cards and staunch defending earning a precious point. With both sides now winless in three, this gritty draw leaves them stranded in midtable – a far cry from their pre-season ambitions.
