Brest Demolish Angers 5-1 in Ligue 1 Rout

Stade Brestois 5-1 Angers: Ligue 1 Matchday 6

The Stade Francis-Le Blé roared as Stade Brestois annihilated Angers 5-1 in Ligue 1, a result that felt inevitable from the moment Ludovic Ajorque crashed home the opener after just nine minutes. The hosts didn’t just win – they eviscerated.

Brest’s Early Onslaught

Ajorque set the tone, peeling away from Jordan Lefort to thump Hugo Magnetti’s cross past Anthony Lopes. The striker’s yellow card six minutes later – for clattering into Lefort – was merely a blip. By the 17th minute, Lucas Tousart had made it 2-0, sweeping home Joris Chotard’s cutback as Angers’ defence stood statuesque.

Kenny Lala converted a 30th-minute penalty after a VAR-reviewed handball, sending Lopes the wrong way. When Mama Baldé tapped in Pathé Mboup’s cross on the stroke of half-time, Angers coach Stéphane Gilli ripped up his tactics board. 4-0. Humiliation in the making.

Angers’ Brief Resistance

Prosper Peter’s 47th-minute volley – Angers’ first shot on target – briefly silenced the home crowd. But Mboup restored the four-goal cushion seven minutes later, finishing Ajorque’s clever knockdown. Then came Lefort’s 59th-minute red card, upgraded from yellow after a VAR review for a reckless lunge. Game truly over.

Brest’s 54% possession and 19 shots to Angers’ nine told the story of dominance. Expected goals? 3.9 to 1.45. A chasm. Every substitution felt like mercy – none more so when Ajorque, having tormented Lefort all night, was withdrawn to a standing ovation.

What This Means

For Brest, this was a statement. Julien Lachuer’s side climb the table with a performance that blended defensive solidity (just five fouls conceded) with attacking verve (nine shots on target). Angers, meanwhile, must regroup. Gilli’s five substitutions reeked of damage limitation. With one win in six, they’re staring down the barrel already.

The Stade Francis-Le Blé bounced long into the Breton night. For Angers’ travelling fans, the 600km bus ride home will feel infinitely longer. Momentum versus misery – football rarely serves it up so raw.
