Barracas Central salvage draw as Belgrano waste chances
Belgrano Cordoba will rue missed opportunities after failing to convert their superior chance creation into victory, despite a 2-2 draw feeling like a fair reflection of the balance of play. Belgrano's 1.61 xG slightly edged Barracas Central's 1.2, but they only managed to match their expected goals with Lucas Passerini's brace in the 27th and 48th minutes, assisted by Emiliano Rigoni and Lucas Zelaráyan respectively. Barracas, however, were more clinical, scoring twice from lower-quality chances, including Nicolás Demartini's dramatic 96th-minute equaliser, assisted by Rafael Barrios.
Tactically, Barracas dominated possession with 54% and registered more shots (21 vs Belgrano’s 12), including nine on target compared to Belgrano's six. However, Belgrano's sharper efficiency in the final third was evident with higher-quality chances, as reflected in their higher xG. Barracas’ relentless pressure, particularly in the second half, paid dividends with Esteban Rolón's 80th-minute goal and Demartini's late heroics. Their 14 corner kicks also highlighted their territorial dominance.
The decisive stat explaining the outcome was Barracas' superior shot volume (21 attempts), coupled with Belgrano's inability to capitalise on their higher-quality opportunities.
