10-man Argentinos JRS battle back for deserved draw
Argentinos JRS merited their point despite playing over 50 minutes with 10 men, as their dominant 64% possession translated into a higher chance creation with 14 shots (7 inside the box) to Gimnasia's 9. Agustín Auzmendi opened the scoring for Gimnasia in the 26th minute via Ignacio Fernández's assist, but Sebastián Prieto's 41st-minute red card forced Argentinos into defensive substitutions before halftime.
The home side showed resilience after the break, with Gastón Verón equalizing in the 74th minute (assisted by Tomás Molina). Gimnasia's four yellow cards highlighted their struggle to contain Argentinos' buildup play, which generated six corners to their three. While both sides registered two shots on target, Argentinos' superior territorial dominance (550 total passes to 313) and ability to create 2.0 xG despite the numerical disadvantage justified their comeback. The decisive stat was Argentinos' six blocked shots - showing their commitment to retaining attacking threat even when down a man.
