Torres’ 95th-Min Penalty Denies Atletico Tucuman 1-1

Gimnasia L.P. vs Atletico Tucuman: Liga Profesional Argentina Drama

Gimnasia L.P. 1-1 Atletico Tucuman. The final whistle sparked delirium in La Plata as Marcelo Torres’ 95th-minute penalty cancelled out Lautaro Godoy’s late opener in a Liga Profesional Argentina Clausura thriller that swung violently in stoppage time.

Gimnasia’s Dominance Meets Tucuman’s Resilience

The Lobo howled first—61% possession, 26 shots to 8, a staggering 13 corners—but found Atletico’s low block impenetrable. Early yellow cards for Ignacio Fernández and Rodrigo Colazo mirrored Gimnasia’s frustration, while Clever Ferreira’s 16th-minute booking hinted at Tucuman’s physical resistance. Alexis Steimbach’s disallowed goal (VAR intervened) before halftime left the Monumental vibrating with injustice.

Atletico Tucuman’s Late Heartbreak

Against the tidal wave, Tucuman struck like lightning in the 83rd—Ramiro Ruiz Rodriguez’s defense-splitting pass found Godoy, who buried it past Nicolás Insfrán. Cue pandemonium in the away end. But Gimnasia’s 26th shot finally told when Franco Torres won a VAR-reviewed penalty. Up stepped Torres, silencing the celebrating Tucumános with a Panenka so audacious the keeper barely flinched.

The Aftermath: Gimnasia stay mid-table but unbeaten in four, their xG of 1.82 proving their creativity. For Tucuman, the defensive masterclass (just 0.31 xG conceded) crumbled at the death—four yellows showing the cost of resistance. Both now face midweek fixtures knowing every point counts in the Clausura’s knife-edge standings.
