Essalhi Stuns FUS Rabat as Amal Tiznit Win 1-0

Amal Tiznit defies odds with 1-0 win at FUS Rabat

FUS Rabat’s home fortress crumbled in a tense 1-0 defeat to Amal Tiznit in Botola Pro’s second round, Zakaria Essalhi’s 57th-minute strike splitting these Moroccan rivals on a night of fraying tempers and tactical chess. The hosts finished with more yellow cards (2) than shots on target as Ricardo Formosinho’s men suffered their first stumble of the campaign.

FUS Rabat’s frustration boils over

Rabat’s evening soured early when Saif Tazi saw yellow after just nine minutes for a reckless challenge, setting the tone for a disjointed performance. The midfielder was hooked at halftime – Formosinho’s first frustrated roll of the dice – but replacements Ilyas Naji and Mohamed Ferhane (booked in the 77th minute) failed to spark the hosts. By full-time, Rabat had made four changes yet created just 0.35 xG, their final substitution pairing Issam Moutaraji and Abdelmoula Souane arriving too late to change the narrative.

Amal Tiznit’s tactical masterclass

Tiznit absorbed the early pressure before striking clinically. Essalhi’s goal came from their first meaningful attack – Houcine Bouhbouh’s incisive pass splitting defenders before the striker slotted home. Their five strategic substitutions, including withdrawing goalscorer Essalhi late on, showcased Mohammed Amine Benhachem’s game management. Youssef Zraa’s 54th-minute booking was their only blemish in a half where they out-territoried Rabat 58%-42%.

Botola Pro’s pendulum swings

This smash-and-grab moves Tiznit onto four points from two games, their best start since promotion. For Rabat, early title aspirations meet reality after last week’s win – Formosinho must address creativity issues before Matchday 3. Essalhi’s ice-cool finish already feels pivotal in a league where fine margins decide fates.
