Feyenoord Edge Como 3-2 in Champions League Thriller

Feyenoord 3-2 Como: Dutch Drama in Champions League Showdown

Feyenoord scraped past Como 3-2 in a breathless Champions League group stage encounter at De Kuip, where an 81st-minute Robert Sánchez own goal proved decisive before Anastasios Douvikas set up a nervy finale. The Rotterdam side rode their luck after Assane Diao’s opener for Como was cancelled out by Gjivai Zechiel and Anis Hadj Moussa, with the Italians dominating possession but paying for defensive lapses.

Como Stun De Kuip with Early Diao Strike

The visitors silenced the home crowd after just 18 minutes when 19-year-old wonderkid Assane Diao – starting ahead of Douvikas – clinically finished Jacobo Ramón’s cross. But Feyenoord responded instantly through Zechiel’s bullet header from Luciano Valente’s pinpoint delivery, sparking delirium in the stands.

Hadj Moussa Turns the Tide for Feyenoord

Como’s momentum evaporated when Diao limped off injured after 23 minutes, and Feyenoord seized control after halftime. Hadj Moussa’s predatory 52nd-minute finish from Gaoussou Diarra’s pass capped a slick move, though the hosts survived when Sánchez denied Valente one-on-one. The Spanish keeper’s calamitous miscontrol of a backpass gifted Feyenoord their third, before Douvikas’ late consolation from Kaiki’s cross.

What This Means for Feyenoord and Como

Gio van Bronckhorst’s side rode their luck with just 48% possession and fewer expected goals, but showed Champions League nous to capitalise on Como’s mistakes. Cesc Fàbregas’ men dominated midfield through Martín Baturina but paid for defensive fragility. Feyenoord’s European campaign ignites, while Como must regroup quickly after two narrow defeats.
