The second half’s most booked player was undoubtedly Mjallby’s Jesper Kjaer, who was cautioned in the 69th minute. Lincoln Red Imps’ Mandi and Julliani Eersteling then joined the ever-growing list of players cautioned, in the 72nd and 77th minutes respectively. Mjallby’s Jesper Gustavsson completed the collection in stoppage time.

What This Means

The result leaves everything to play for in the second leg of this Champions League 2nd Qualifying Round tie. Mjallby AIF will feel they have the slight edge heading back to Sweden, but Lincoln Red Imps showed enough defensive solidity to suggest they could cause an upset. Both sides will need to find more cutting edge in front of goal if they are to progress in European football’s premier club competition.
