Galaxy Demolish Austin 4-1 in MLS Masterclass

Los Angeles Galaxy 4-1 Austin FC: MLS Week 33

The final whistle blew on a merciless performance as Los Angeles Galaxy dismantled Austin FC 4-1 in Major League Soccer’s Regular Season Week 33, Marco Reus conducting a symphony of devastation with three assists under the Californian lights.

Galaxy’s Early Onslaught

Klauss needed just 10 minutes to ignite the riot, punishing Austin’s tentative start by thundering home Harbor Miller’s cutback. The visitors’ shellshock deepened when Besard Šabović earned a reckless 23rd-minute yellow—a harbinger of their unraveling. By the 38th minute, Hirving Lozano doubled the lead after Reus sliced open Austin’s defence, the Mexican’s premature substitution at halftime the only mercy shown all night.

Reus Pulls the Strings

Just three minutes after the restart, substitute Robert Taylor volleyed in Reus’ second assist of the evening—a gut punch Austin briefly answered when Ervin Torres tapped in Micah Burton’s cross (54′). But any hope of a revival evaporated when Sergi Roberto made it 4-1 in the 66th, completing Reus’ hat-trick of assists with a ruthless finish. Austin’s misery culminated in Žan Kolmanič’s 95th-minute red card, their discipline as shredded as their defensive shape.

Stats Tell the Story

The numbers paint a brutal picture: Galaxy’s 56% possession, 18 shots (10 on target), and 2.44 xG dwarfed Austin’s timid 1.27 xG from just two shots on target. Greg Vanney’s men played with the swagger of champions, while Josh Wolff’s side limped home with red-card crushed pride.

What This Means

For Galaxy, this statement win plants them firmly in the Supporters’ Shield conversation. For Austin, the wreckage includes just one win in nine and the sobering reality of a squad outclassed in every department. On this evidence, their postseason dreams may expire before Halloween.
