Estudiantes Stun Aldosivi with Late 2-1 Comeback

Estudiantes de Rio Cuarto 2-1 Aldosivi: Late Drama Seals Clausura Thriller

Estudiantes de Rio Cuarto produced a stunning late comeback to beat Aldosivi 2-1 in the Argentina Liga Profesional Clausura, flipping the script with two goals in three devastating minutes after trailing with five minutes remaining.

Aldosivi Take Control Against the Run of Play

The visitors shocked the Estadio Ciudad de Rio Cuarto when Andres Vombergar slammed home in the 68th minute against the flow of play. Estudiantes had dominated possession (52%) and peppered the Aldosivi box with 13 shots inside the area before the breakthrough, but Lautaro Herrera’s two saves kept them at bay.

Estudiantes’ Relentless Pressure Finally Pays

Ibrahim Hesar ignited the comeback with an 85th-minute equaliser, before Gabriel Alanis sent the home fans into raptures just 120 seconds later, sweeping home Siro Rosané’s assist to complete the turnaround. The hosts’ 22 total shots to Aldosivi’s 10 told the story of their territorial dominance.

Disciplinary Battles and Tactical Shifts

Four Estudiantes yellows to Aldosivi’s one reflected their aggressive press, while both managers made tactical gambles – J. Sanguinetti’s triple substitution backfired as his fresh legs conceded twice, while R. Forestello’s introduction of Rosané proved inspired with the game-winning assist.

This smash-and-grab victory breathes life into Estudiantes’ Clausura campaign, while Aldosivi will rue surrendering a late lead in a match where they’d shown admirable defensive resilience until the dam finally burst.
