Tresoldi Treble Stuns Inter as Brugge Win 4-3

Brugge Stun Inter in Champions League Classic

Inter Milan 3-4 Club Brugge. The Belgian underdogs pulled off a sensational Champions League upset at the San Siro, Nicolo Tresoldi’s hat-trick condemning the hosts to a chaotic Group Stage defeat that leaves their European campaign in early turmoil.

Inter Struggle to Contain Tresoldi

The warning signs came early for Inter when Jorne Spileers earned the first yellow card for hauling down Marcus Thuram. But it was Tresoldi who seized the moment in the 30th minute, calmly slotting home a penalty after Manuel Akanji’s booking-worthy challenge. Lautaro Martínez pulled Inter level just before half-time, pouncing on Federico Dimarco’s cross to temporarily steady Nerazzurri nerves.

The second half exploded into life when Tresoldi struck again in the 63rd minute, timing his run perfectly to meet Carlos Forbs’ delivery. Eleven minutes later he completed his hat-trick with a ruthless finish, Brugge’s clinical edge defying Inter’s 53% possession and 30 total shots. Martínez’s second in the 81st minute – a vicious left-footed strike – set up a grandstand finish.

Brugge Hold Nerve in Wild Finale

Just as Inter pushed for an equaliser, 17-year-old substitute Romeo Vermant killed the game in the 87th minute, capitalising on Forbs’ second assist to spark wild Belgian celebrations. Ange-Yoan Bonny’s injury-time header made it 4-3, but Ivan Leko’s men held firm through six agonizing added minutes – Félix Lemaréchal picking up their fourth yellow card in the dying seconds.

Champions League Ramifications

The statistics tell a painful story for Inter: 12 shots on target, 4.01 xG, but only Martínez’s brilliance preventing total humiliation. For Brugge – who outscored their xG with 4 goals from 4.32 – this ranks among their greatest European nights. While Simone Inzaghi’s men face mounting pressure, Tresoldi’s coming-of-age performance announces Club Brugge as genuine contenders in this season’s competition.
