Füllkrug Stuns Dortmund with 92nd-Minute Equaliser in 2-2 Thriller

Borussia Dortmund were left heartbroken as Niclas Füllkrug’s 92nd-minute strike secured Werder Bremen a 2-2 Bundesliga draw at Signal Iduna Park in a breathless encounter that saw three goals in the final ten minutes.

Dortmund Dominate But Bremen Hang On

The hosts started like a hurricane, racking up 72% possession and testing Bremen’s resolve with 21 total shots. Kobel in the Dortmund goal might as well have brought a deckchair in the first half, his most strenuous work being a routine catch from a Marco Grüll effort.

But for all their dominance, Edin Terzić’s side found Bremen’s defensive bloc frustratingly resilient. The visitors made 4 crucial blocks before the break, with Arthur Augusto and Amos Pieper throwing themselves at everything in yellow.

The Game Explodes in Final 10 Minutes

Just when it seemed Dortmund might be denied, Daniel Svensson broke the deadlock on 80 minutes, smashing home from close range after Fábio Silva’s clever knockdown. The roof nearly came off when Nico Schlotterbeck doubled the lead five minutes later with a thunderous header from Joey Veerman’s pin-point corner.

But Bremen weren’t done. The outstanding Ludovit Reis gave them hope on 88 minutes, finishing coolly after Oskar Wójcik’s lung-busting run down the right. Then, in the second minute of stoppage time, former Dortmund striker Füllkrug wrote the cruelest twist, pouncing on Grüll’s knockdown to silence the Yellow Wall.

What This Result Means

Dortmund will see this as two points brutally stolen, their title credentials taking another early season dent. For Bremen, this smash-and-grab raid could prove pivotal – stealing a point with just 28% possession against a top-four rival demonstrates the battling spirit Daniel Thioune has instilled.

The Bundesliga table makes grim reading for Dortmund after five games, already six points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Bremen climb to mid-table, their never-say-die attitude earning a result that could define their season.
