Ramos Inspires Portugal’s 4-2 Nations League Triumph Over Denmark

Portugal struck twice in seven minutes to break Danish hearts in a 4-2 Nations League thriller in Copenhagen, as Gonçalo Ramos dazzled with a goal and assist to keep their League A campaign alive. The Danes clawed back twice through Mikkel Damsgaard and Rasmus Højlund, but Vitinha’s ruthless 67th-minute strike and Joao Felix’s late dagger sealed a priceless away win for Jorge Jesus’s men.

Denmark Fight Back After Portugal’s Lightning Start

The visitors exploded from the blocks when João Cancelo arrowed into the bottom corner after 13 minutes, Ramos rolling a clever pass into the full-back’s path. But Denmark’s response was electric – Mæhle’s marauding run and cutback found Damsgaard, who swept home in the 23rd minute to send Parken into raptures. The joy lasted 120 seconds. Bruno Fernandes threaded a pass through Danish legs, Ramos spinning his marker to slot coolly past Hermansen.

Portugal Survive Hojlund’s Hammer Blow

Rasmus Højlund thought he’d hauled Denmark level again in the 53rd minute, the Manchester United striker punishing slack marking to head home Damsgaard’s whipped cross. But Portugal’s bench changed everything – Diogo Dalot’s introduction sparked chaos down the right, his cross met by Vitinha’s venomous half-volley to restore the lead. Danish shoulders sank further when substitute Felix raced clear in the 87th minute, rounding Hermansen to condemn the hosts to defeat despite 54% possession.

What This Means For Both Nations

Denmark’s defensive vulnerabilities proved costly against Portugal’s rapier counter-attacks, suffering a third straight Nations League defeat that leaves their top-tier status in peril. For Portugal, Ramos’ all-action display – one goal, one assist, three key passes – confirms his emergence as Cristiano Ronaldo’s heir. With their Nations League hopes flickering back to life, Jesus’s side travel to Serbia next week knowing victory could propel them back into title contention.
